Natural Long-Term Relief for Chronic Pain
People with chronic pain from all over the world visit Head to Foot because they want their lives to change. They want to have a normal, active, less-restricted life again. They need to get back to work, school and family life. Is this too much to ask? Not really.
To help you get there, though, we have to look at your problem in a completely new way. Otherwise, frustration and disappointment are inevitable. Superficial approaches to understanding and treating your body can (at best!) provide you with temporary relief. This is true whether you are going with more medical or natural approaches.
Have medical specialists told you that you are depressed, or that "it's" your hormones, your digestion or your age? Perhaps they've given you a diagnosis of fibromyalgia and prescribed the meds advertised on television, yet nothing miraculous happened. Maybe you've gone to see more naturally-oriented practitioners...over and over again...but it doesn't seem to make any difference.
Then there's all the confusing and conflicting advice: One person tells you to exercise. Another one tells you to rest. An article/ad on the Internet says that you'll feel better if you start taking a particular nutritional supplement. While trying to make sense of all this great wisdom, your hard-earned money--or someone else's--just pours down the drain.
It's hard to hold onto your optimism when your pain keeps holding onto you. Adding insult to injury, doctors--and even friends and relatives--may be suggesting that you don't really want to get well, and that it's all your fault that you "seem to be" having trouble.
We can break this pattern by literally examining you from HEAD to FOOT. Here is what we've found over and over again in the people we have examined and been able to help:
1) Usually, there has been a trauma, even a seemingly minor one, before the onset of symptoms.
2) The main muscles that are supposed to support the neck, shoulders, back and lower joints are not functioning well enough to keep from straining during normal, everyday activities. Put another way, the patient's body consistently overworks performing tasks that would be easy for someone else. The muscles may even strain from merely sitting or standing. This tends to be true, even if the patient was previously normal or athletic.
3) Exercise makes matters worse. The muscles are NOT weak from lack of exercise: They have stopped receiving clear signals from the brain that allow them to do the jobs they were designed to do. As a result of poor and unbalanced muscular support, the muscles and joints become achey and tired from minimal exertion.
4) Finally, the poor, confused body does its best to compensate for the weakness, but does not fare well. Poor posture, spinal misalignment, fatigue and emotional stress set in. Further complications, like myofascial trigger points develop, locking in the pain. Then, the search for competent help begins. Whether your own search is been going on for a while, or you are just starting to look for help, we have some great answers for you here.
Simple as it might sound, we often have an intuition or inner knowing that we really can get well, and that the answer lies hidden inside of us. That feeling inside is what keeps us from giving up. It may not be fashionable to say this today, but if you trust that feeling within yourself, it will guide you to the solution you seek.
Head to Foot has found low tech, inexpensive ways to work with your body's nervous system to find the sources of confusion, and to reset the "circuitry" so that your brain can regain control of the muscular system and improve function, in general. We use a combination of rare cranial techniques with advanced trigger point and muscular re-education methods to help you get quick relief that lasts.
Please note: If we suspect that you have some sort of pathology going on that requires medical or surgical care, we will advise you to seek help elsewhere. Depending on the specifics of your case, we may or may not work with you at the same time. Our office does not prescribe medication, and any decisions regarding medication you are already taking need to be worked out with the prescribing physician.
